If friends or family encourage volunteering at a local animal charity, one may ask, “Why should anyone become a volunteer at the local animal charity?” There are many answers to that question. Everyone can benefit in some way by making the lives of animals better. Together every single person can do his share to help those wonderful animals that cannot speak for themselves, as they all need a voice.

First of all, why not give a little time to a helpless animal? There are many live animals that want to stay that way and their safety should not have to be in question. Why not spend an hour a week, all day once a month, or several times a week doing something that is totally beneficial to the well-being of animals? There are many tasks that need done at the animal shelter every day and there is always room for one more volunteer.

In fact, volunteering at an animal shelter or other animal protection organization near home can make a difference in the community by helping animals. Walking dogs, painting beds for pets to sleep in, holding baby kittens, talking to a monkey, singing with a wild bird, filling out forms or greeting visitors in the office of the local shelter are just a few of the tasks that may be available.

Also, buying magazine subscriptions to support an animal charity is a great idea. Enjoy reading with beautiful photos of creatures in every issue. Volunteer to educate children about animals. Fact filled with articles and information about each and every animal under the sun. Buy subscriptions for gifts and surprise the receiver with a delightful magazine about their favorite animal.

Furthermore, why not adopt an animal to take to see a sick friend or a child who is poor? The elderly especially love visits from animals and some of them may want to help. Giving the gift of wonderful, amazing animals changes lives for the better and not only breeds baby animals, but breeds love as well.

In addition, there are many animals in the wild that need support. Invite wildlife to the backyard or front yard or wherever there is a place made just for wildlife. If the only yard one has is a window, hang a suction cup with a big hook on the outside of the window and close it. Now put a feeder on the hook or buy one with a feeder built onto the suction cup. Birds will come as long as there is nourishment. It is a delight to see the birds, what they act like and how they practice not hitting themselves.

What is more, get involved by supporting animal laws, park rules and state laws that are kind to animals, fighting any negative ones. Defending animals against breed discrimination, unclean, unsafe practices used at races, dog fights and cock fighting will make a difference. There are many more societies, organizations and clubs all around the world that can use help to save many animals from terrible living conditions, abuse, torture and keep them from becoming an endangered species.

Think about what it means to volunteer for animal related welfare. It can mean hands on work that is physically demanding, or a job doing a fund raiser, making flyers for the organization, arranging a fair, show, or aiding wildlife rescue. The possibilities are as endless as all those awe-inspiring animals. Local shelters and Humane Society will be found in the area phone books. Why should anyone become a volunteer at the local animal charity? Because it is fun, kind, loving, rewarding and helpful.
